Iranian Asthma Registry (IAR)

Iranian Asthma Registry (IAR) was initially set up in corporation of Immunology, Asthma and Allergy research Institute (IAARI), Immunology section of Children's Medical Center, and other specialized centers in 2008. This registry was approved as the national asthma registry by ministry of health and medical education in 2016

After reviewing the scientific resources as well as relevant and valid global questionnaires, a comprehensive questionnaire was prepared to gather patients’ information. Until now, more than 1300 pediatrics in two subgroups (aged less than 5 years and older than 6 years) and more than 250 adults are registered in the IAR


The fundamental aims of this registry are as follows

Diagnosis and treatment of asthma as a pandemic disease in Tehran and other polluted cities

Obtaining accurate statistics on the prevalence of asthma and related risk factors in Iranian population

Getting access to clinical status of the patients for further follow-up

Providing a suitable platform for clinical and epidemiological researches, elimination of threatening factors, and ameliorating health of patients

Scientific cooperation with national and international scientific organizations in compliance with relevant laws and regulations

Improving the awareness of physicians and other health care workers as well as patients and their families

Increasing the awareness of society in order to help both parents and patients

Encouraging researchers to conduct research projects on asthma

IAR follows several activities including

Growing the trend of registering patients with asthma in Iran

The growing trend in the field of asthma research projects

Provide numerous abstracts in the field of asthma in different congresses

Providing multiple scientific-educational booklet and CDs for physicians and other health care workers , patients and their families

Celebrating World Asthma Day
