MHC Class I-Restricted Myelin Epitopes Are Cross-Presented by Tip-DCs That Promote Determinant Spreading to CD8 T Cells

This journal club was held in the central auditorium of Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute on Wednesday 10 February, 2016

Leila Shakerian; one of the researchers of Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute, was the speaker of this journal club. First, she reviewed the immunopathogenesis of multiple sclerosis and the role of the immune cells in the inflammation of neurons.  She continued her speech by talking about the exclusive role of CD8 + T cells in inflammation process of neurology system.
She expressed the methods of a research team at the University of Washington in which the activation of CD8 + T cells in the central nervous system were presented.  She concluded that Tip-DCs (TNF-α / iNOS-producing dendritic cells) are the main cells presenting the epitopes of myelin in the MHC-I cells.
