The introduction of long non coding RNA

This journal club was held in Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute

This journal club was held in the central auditorium of Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute on Wednesday 24 November, 2015.
Elham Adabi; biotechnology student of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, was the speaker of this journal club. First, she reviewed different types of intracellular RNA and continued her lecture by introducing a new class of non-coding RNA called long non coding RNA. She noted the function of this important class of intracellular RNA in different intracellular processes such as epigenetic settings in different levels. After reviewing different mechanisms of action, she introduced this subgroup of RNAs as the most important regulators of intracellular activities. Then, she explicated the relation of these RNAs with some kinds of cancers and noted some long non coding RNAs that have been known as the
biomarkers of these cancers. “These long non coding RNAs may be a new hope in the treatment of some cancers” she said.

At the end of this session, participants' questions were answered.
